Dichtung in dürftiger Zeit - No. 3

Eines meiner Lieblingsgedichte von Dylan Thomas One of my favourite Poems from Dylan Thomas

Dylan Thomas reads

"Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night"

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on that sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Seid Sand

Einst not gesät - die nacht wo du ( o trug!
o beten!

                 In dich selbst zurück.

Dort ist alles, was du brauchst,
                 Sonne, Stern und Mond,
Denn das Licht, danach du frugst,
                 In dir selber wohnt.

                 Weisheit, die du lang gesucht
                 In den Bücherein,
Leuchtet jetzt aus jedem Blatt -
                 Denn nun ist sie dein.
                                          - Hermann Hesse

Duineser Elegien - Poems

Denn Bleiben ikst nirgends.

-Rainer Maria Rilke

Dylan Thomas - Request to an Obliging Poet

Come, sing me a song of the succulent spring,
Of the balmy and beautiful season,
Come, chirp me a chant of the peewit on wing.
Or any fair fowl within reason,
Yes, lisp me a lyric of lielies and languor,
Of maids from Kidwelly and lasses from Bangor.

Come, pen me a poem of plentiful passion,
Of fairies and flowers and fauns,
Come scintillate sharply in Sitwellian fashion.
Of parrots and perches and peacocks on lawns,
Yes, soothe me with songs of the serpentine sea,
Of Naiads from Narberth and nymphs from Pwlldu.

Come, croon me a carol of sorrel and coral,
Of mermaids and numerous moons,
Come, prattle a prologue with motive and moral,
Of peaches and prisms and prunes,
Yes, warble away on Ophelia and Hamlet,
Of the gnomes from Llanllwch and the elves from Llansamlet.
